Code Blue


She’s back.

So it seems this little blog I started died as fast as my half marathon back in 2011. A little bump by a car, sidelined for way too long and this blog gets lost deep into the oblivion known as the internet.

I have been resuscitated and so I think it’s time we bring this blog back from the flatline it has been stuck in. I have been running up a storm(just finished my first half, FINALLY!!!) and I found this little gem called CrossFit and my life has been turned upside down. Still deeply and passionately in love with Iraq and championing for their success and still trying to be a badass doctor. Can’t wait for what is to come and how this little blog is going take off. (hint, hint:look for a half recap and lots of crazy, exciting news about the future very soon.)



Training….and a few goals.

I am committed. Yes many of you thought I should have been committed a long time ago but I am not talking about that. I signed up for my first ever half marathon….

and then today it was cancelled. 😦

Seriously!?!? Who does that?

In my attempt to do this thing, I frantically got on the internet and started to search for any half in the near vicinity of Austin for the month of June. Well since it is blazing-balls hot in Texas during the summer months, there are very few to chose from. I found one. One lousy half marathon in the state of Texas in the month of June. Also, this freaks me out a bit cause it pushes up my date 2 weeks. That is 2 less weeks to train and beat my body into the ability to run 13.1 miles, non-stop and still have my legs at the end. Well when you jump in, you might as well get your head wet. I signed up. June 12th, Dallas, the Wounded Warrior Half Marathon. Eeeeekkkkkk…..

In other news I have also got my training plan set, which will probably now need to be redone since the move up in the date of this adventure but if you don’t see me or hear from me much here is why:

This is just the next 4 weeks of workouts.

Also I decided to set some goals for all this running shenanigans that have begun to take place. While I really want to get a bike and spend sometime exploring that route and the possibility of doing a Run/Bike/Run, I think that this year I really want to focus just on my running. So my goals are to finish 3 Half Marathons and 1 Full this year. After I do complete my first one I will have some more pruning on these goals such as time and what not but for June I just don’t want to die.




If you are reading this, chances are you know me by way of friendship, acquaintance or perhaps had a wild encounter with me on one of my many adventures and are wondering just how, I keep it all together. (Truth is I don’t keep it together and after reading and following along you will find that to be more true than you really wanted to know.) Many of you have followed along on my previous blog as I journeyed through various countries, continents and cultures and are back for more. These days I find myself in Austin, which can seem like another country and culture at times, and I also find myself feeling at home. A rare feeling that I haven’t experienced in about a decade when I packed up my car and started running. See if you know me well and have survived years of friendship with me, you know that I am pretty good at running. Running from one part of the country to the next, one commitment to the next, one job to another, one country to another country, running around in circles, etc. I find it humorous that I have found a place I actually want to stay put in for awhile, create some static in my life for a bit, and as a result I have begun to run in place a lot-on the treadmill. I hope this blog to be a chronicle of my fond love of all things running and working my booty off, the craziness that tends to be my life, and of course the unbeknownst adventures the future holds. Join me for the ride, grab a cup of coffee, and lets explore and grow together.
